Is it OK to use coconut oil on your face? NO!
Coconut Oil is Comedogenic.
What does that mean?
Comedogenic substances block pores and can cause blackheads. Not what you want!
Unfortunately, the enthusiasm about coconut oil is misleading and misinformed.
It is not a skin saviour, in fact, it can cause your skin great difficulties and result in clogged suffocating pores, what a mess!
Coconut oil is great in the kitchen for cooking however when it comes to your skin there are far better alternatives. Here are a few we LOVE.
HydroSkin created S+ face oil specifically due to customers fascination with coconut oil.
In discussions with HydroSkin converts, we would ask what they had used in the past and very often they would mention this greasy culprit. We would explain the negative impact coconut oil could have and more often than not this was their experience, they had no idea it had been the coconut oil that caused their skin concerns and would find the revelation difficult to absorb, just like the oil!
Human sebum (oil) is comprised of 25% squalene. This makes Squalene Oil the ideal ingredient for nourishing dry skin, increasing moisture balance and elasticity while maintaining pore integrity.
S+ face oil is a winning combination of Squalene Oil and Davidson Plum Seed Oil an Australian indigenous fruit that grows in the rainforests of North Queensland. It is rich in antioxidants and contains anthocyanin, a flavonoid that helps in the prevention of wrinkles by promoting the production of collagen and elastin.
If you’re in need of face oil we recommend this one.
Whatever solution you chose please stay clear of coconut oil on your face.
That said not all things derived from coconut oil are bad, in fact, we use and love Coco Betaine, made from coconut oil. It is a very gentle, non-drying surfactant that makes soft foam and washes away grime leaving no residue on the skin. This makes the HydroSkin Face Cleanser soap free and non-drying. So derivatives of coconut oil can be great just not straight up!
There are many myths about coconut oil as always do your research and be informed about your skincare choices.
